ABOUT ANJA HOSE
ARTIST STATEMENT
I have a particular interest in new works, and specifically those that deal with questions of consent and gendered violence. Much of my research centers around sexism, representation, and access - both the access marginalized people have to resources, as well as the access that other people have to us because of social media and smartphones.
BIO
Anja currently lives in the NYC area and has been working as a projections programmer in various off-Broadway houses such as Playwrights Horizons, Signature Theatre, and The Public Theatre. She holds an MFA in media design from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. She recently assisted Media Designer Austin Switzer and Associate Jesse Garrison on The Builders Association's residency of Strange Window: Turn of the Screw. She was the media designer for Jessica Lang Dance Company's new work us/we in collaboration with José Parlá., With Illinois Theatre, Anja designed media for the world premiere of Because I Am Your Queen (a devised work by Mina Samuels, directed by Barbara Pitts McAdams of Tectonic Theater Project), and The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time. She has also worked extensively as a designer for Lyric @ Illinois, creating projections for opera and musical theatre productions. Previously, she worked professionally in the Boulder/Denver area with many local companies such as the Boulder Ensemble Theatre Company (BETC), Frequent Flyers Productions, and square product theatre, and was a founding member of now-defunct Devil's Thumb Productions.
